Parent Lab is designed to teach parents how to help their children with schoolwork and improve their own literacy in the process.
Parents get to work with Project READ tutors to become familiar with the same skills their kids and grandkids are learning in school, focusing on math and reading. Dinner and childcare are provided.
Parent Lab meets Mondays (Feb. 4 - May 20) in the Booker T. Washington STEM Academy school library. Once a month parents visit BTW's next-door neighbor, the Douglass Branch, to learn about educational technology, research tools, career development aids, and other library resources helpful to families.
For Champaign Unit 4 families.
Presented in partnership with Project READ and Champaign Unit 4 School District.
The beautiful Douglass Branch Library stands in Douglass Park, just west of Booker T. Washington STEM Academy in north Champaign. The Branch offers many of the same collections and services as the Main Library, including free events for all ages, public computers with internet access, and a large meeting room.
