As generative AI’s impact on the hiring process continues to take shape, navigating AI tools like ChatGPT and others have become a powerful instrument to those in the job search. This event will familiarize attendees with the current AI landscape, its challenges, best practices for its effective and ethical use in the job search process, employer perspectives on candidates’ use of AI, and future directions in which these tools may evolve.
About the Presenter: James Castree currently serves as Senior Assistant Director at the Career Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he leads a fantastic group of over twenty student-centered, outcomes-driven professionals and paraprofessionals on the center’s Career Education team. He has been with the Career Center for over five years, and also has over a decade of higher education experience at schools ranging from local community colleges to flagship Research I institutions. James holds degrees in Psychology and in Education, Policy, Organization, & Leadership from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. He has presented on AI-related topics in career services to various audiences in the hundreds of students, higher education professionals, and community members.
