Before joining UIUC, Stewart held leadership positions in three other Big Ten Academic Alliance libraries. She served as professor and Dean of Libraries at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), Associate University Librarian for Research and Learning at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and held several positions at Northwestern University over a 21-year period, including director of the Center for Scholarly Communication and Digital Curation and head of Digital Collections. Stewart holds a Bachelor of Arts in English literature with a minor in humanistic studies from St. Mary’s College and a Master of Library and Information Science from Dominican University.
The Library Friends are a very special group of people, whose support has translated into beautiful lobby installations, dozens of iPads for kids to play and learn on, hundreds of engaging events for kids and families, millions of minutes read during summer reading challenges, and much, much more. The library’s FriendShop Bookstore is staffed entirely by volunteers and run by this group. Over the years, the leadership and members have dedicated both time and money to extend the library’s reach into the community. Thank you!
