Tuesdays at Ten | The Other British Isles
Tuesday, September 01

Main Library
Robeson Pavilion Room A & B
There are more British Isles than just Great Britain and Ireland. These talks will explore the history, nature, art, music, and archaeology of eight small islands and groups: the Shetlands, the Orkneys, the Hebrides, the Isle of Man, Anglesey, the Scilly Isles, the Isle of Wight, and the Channel Islands. Each has its own unique character, scenic atmosphere, fascinating history, and quirky relationship with the United Kingdom. All would make great destinations for tourist visits.
About the presenter: Fred Christensen has taught history at the University of Kentucky and military science at the University of Illinois, Now retired, he teaches adult education classes in history and archaeology for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and other venues. This is his tenth “Tuesdays at Ten” series.
